Tom Daschle on tax cheats: they “cheat us all.”

Today say Tom Daschle's policies are backwards is to ignore the rest of him.

Today say Tom Daschle's policies are backwards is to ignore the rest of him.

When he was in the Senate, long before he became a high-priced “consultant” (DC code for lobbyist), Tom Daschle didn’t much care for tax cheats.  On the floor of the Senate in 1998, then Minority Leader Daschle said the following:

“Make no mistake, tax-cheaters cheat us all. And the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter.”

You can see the video of his speech here.

Now that he’s making some serious bank, however, he’s singing a different tune, and he’s sorry.

We agree that he’s sorry, but probably not in the way he means it.
