When he was in the Senate, long before he became a high-priced “consultant” (DC code for lobbyist), Tom Daschle didn’t much care for tax cheats. On the floor of the Senate in 1998, then Minority Leader Daschle said the following:
“Make no mistake, tax-cheaters cheat us all. And the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter.”

Now that he’s making some serious bank, however, he’s singing a different tune, and he’s sorry.
We agree that he’s sorry, but probably not in the way he means it.
