President-elect Barack Obama’s camp “corrected the record” about contact he’s had with disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich regarding his vacated Senate seat, saying the two men never spoke about it. But that doesn’t seem to be the case, since the two were to meet the day after the election to discuss just that, according to this local news story.
While Obama’s campaign manager said the two had spoken, they have quickly tried to back peddle from that statement. But this new revelation casts more doubt on their fuzzy memories.
It’s never the crime, it’s the cover-up. With a movie about Nixon in theaters now you’d think someone would remember that point.
UPDATE: Since the link to the story has been disabled (for reasons unknown), we thought we’d post the screen capture of the story. Note: It doesn’t matter if the meeting took place or not, it’s clear from the story that Obama and Blagojevich talked about it the appointment at some point, thus making his new statements lies.
