Douchebag of the Week – Dave Stancliff

Douchebag of the Week!Chances are you’ve never heard of this week’s winner, Dave Stancliff, but that doesn’t diminish his douchebaggery.  Dave is a Vietnam veteran, blogger and columnist for a few regional newspapers in California, and a raging  leftist.  But that’s not why he’s our DBoTW.

No, he’s this week’s winner because of this column he wrote for the Times-Standard about McCain’s “possible” post-traumatic stress disorder and how that should pretty much disqualify him for the Presidency.

Does John McCain suffer from PTSD?  Considering the hundreds of pages of medical documents released by his campaign, no.  (Obama’s campaign released a one-page letter from his doctor saying he was healthy, nothing more.  Pretty much the same thing Clinton did, no real records released.) But the mere fact that there is no evidence doesn’t stop Stancliff from speculating because, well, when you can’t win on the facts, just assume facts to plant a seed of doubt in people’s minds.  Stalin never let the facts get in the way of a good story (or purge), why would today’s leftists?

He describes what can only be seen as the horror of his own battle with PTSD, which we do not doubt, but then he goes beyond that to assume McCain suffers as well.  Why, he wonders, wouldn’t McCain suffer from PTSD if he does, McCain went through much worse than he did, so he HAS TO HAVE IT TOO!

Life doesn’t work that way.  People handle things differently.  Many veterans, most in fact, do not suffer from PTSD.  That is not to case aspersions on those that do, it’s just a fact; people are different.

But even that isn’t why he’s this week’s Douchebag.

He goes on to praise McCain for his bravery and for what kind of man he is, all while assuming he’ll kill us all after having a flashback.  Fine, whatever.  But a little poking around his personal blog finds that he’s not anywhere near the person he claims to be in the column.

In this post he takes the typical uber-leftist line that if Obama loses it will not be because people reject his Marxism, it’s because white people didn’t vote for him because he’s black.

…unless a miracle happens, Obama’s race will keep the majority of white males from voting for him.

You’re either for Obama or you’re a racist, period, is where this guy is coming from.  The last 8 years, after all, have been the worst in human history, what with the 5.2 percent unemployment and one, count it, ONE quarter of negative economic growth (that constitutes a recession to liberals and the media).  Absolute hell!

But he’s not done.  To really show his open-mindedness and self-proclaimed “Libertarian” bent, Dave says the following:

The debate between Obama and McCain last night surprised some people, like me, that Mccain actually came across better than Obama. It was obvious that McCain knew how to push the right buttons(in this case Jingoism and patriotism). He proved that most Americans are into the short and sweet rhetoric.

Obama’s mistake was in being too thoughtful about his replies. The white-dominated wealthy Republican audience heard the buzz words that make them happy and cheered when they were thrown out like tasty tidbits. After viewing the so-called debate (it really turned out to be a forum for McCain’s blatherings with his handpicked audience), I came to the conclusion that Obama is in trouble.

“That’s above my pay-grade” is thoughtful?  Cowardly, yes, thoughtful?  Maybe insofar as finding new ways to avoid saying anything.

Elsewhere on his blog he rambles on about the typical left-wing pap, health care, what the rest of the world think, everything wrong with anyone is someone else’s fault, etc.  But the real douchebag move was to try to under cut McCain by throwing out there that he may have PTSD.  The Left can’t attack McCain for his military service any more (just ask Weasel-y Clark, if you can find him, after he tried), so they need something else.  Why not lie?

Dave Stancliff, there is plenty of things on which you could take issue with John McCain, (think cap and trade) but since you aren’t a Libertarian like you claim, you have to resort to this sort of crap.  For that move you, friend, are our Douchebag of the Week.

The real problem with is, and you basically state as such, that he thinks everyone is the same. That is the real problem with the Left. One size fits all.

    Dear Douchebag,

How little you know about PTSD, and Vietnam Vets. Dave is right-on with his facts and observations of McCain. So get your head out of your right wing ass, and get your facts together.

McCain shows several signs of a man living with PTSD, and I honor his service.

Typical right wing blather. Cant handle the possibility of McBush having PTSD? Yes, everyone handles the horrors of war differently but McBushs mannerisms and demeanor scare the hell out of me! As a Viet Nam Combat Veteran, I’m further appalled by McBush who has prostituted his POW status for votes. Speaking of lies, I find it interesting that the republicdicks had no problem slamming Kerry’s Viet Nam service and even McCain in 2000. And the treatment of Max Ceyland (who gave two legs and a arm in Nam) as a supporter of Bin Laden. All of these men served our country proudly and were taken down by lies by the republicdicks. As usual, the republicdicks can dish it out BUT cant take the same shit they throw. I’m thrilled that someone as Mr. Stancliff has brought this issue forward. Remember, It’s just a thought that could possibly be true!

Seems you can’t read either. Dave Douchebag of the Week wasn’t saying it was possible, he was saying McCain had it. Everything else you say is so worthless as to not bother speaking to.

It’s amazing that even a “collective” can be so closed minded! Maybe if “firstfriday” had any integrity you would list your names and bio’s as did Mr. Stancliff (as you so pointed out)! Well at least one person who read this article agreed with you. 20% (that’s one out of five for you “firstfriday”) is about the approval rating of your President. Your way of thinking has really taken this country in a bad direction, so get use to your comment section looking like this, and your friday night bar tab getting larger!

In all fairness, calling someone a douchebag isn’t really an insult when coming from a group of dirty pussy’s… infact, it looks like Dave Stancliff may be doing a good job at “cleansing” ignorance when we can see he’s clearly disturbed the ignorant. So, after getting all this feedback are you all feeling alittle more fresh?

Don’t you find it odd that both of you write as if you have no idea who Dave is, yet you’re both clearly related to him? You’re both pretty worthless as humans, you know that? We’re no fans of Bush either, but he’s YOUR President, too. It’s clear you have no respect for the Constitution, but you can’t ignore that part. Dave is a douchebag, as are both of you. That’s for stopping by, now go away and read the Constitution. Being right isn’t a popularity contest, it’s a matter of principle, something the two of you seemingly have no understanding of.
