Douchebag of the Week – Not Eliot Spitzer or Ashley Dupre.

Douchebag of the Week!It would have been really easy to pick soon to be ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer or even his prostitute Ashley Dupre as this week’s winner of the coveted Douchebag of the Week Award.  They are both deserving and world-class douchebags, but we demand a certain standard for this award that they don’t meet. No, this week’s winner is the Gwinnett County Georgia Police Department, the whole department.

Why would a police department win this, you ask?  First off, let there be no ambiguity, we are strong supports of police, they are people to be admired, but that doesn’t mean some of them aren’t douchebags.

The Gwinnett County Police are douchebags because they gave a ticket to Rhonda Wilson for driving on an expired license. Now, driving on an expired license is a crime, but Rhonda is a woman with cerebral palsy who uses a motorized scooter to get around, not a car.  She was riding her scooter down the street to her work, which is one mile away, and was in the street because there are no sidewalks there.  The Gwinnett County police told the local CBS station “… for the past two years they’ve received complaints about Wilson as she tools down the street. There are no sidewalks and officers said her wheelchair impedes the flow of traffic.”

Poor babies!  The woman is on the road for ONE MILE, and it’s highly unlikely that she’s zig-zagging in the lane, she’s staying to the right.

Having been stripped of her usual ability to get to work, Rhonda will now be forced to pay for city transit to come and pick her up because she was told she would be arrested if she did it again.

Cerebral Palsy is a horrible disease that is very debilitating, but don’t tell that to Gwinnett County Police, they have complaint phone calls to deal with.  I

Congratulations to the Gwinnett County Police Department, your inability to handle a situation with common sense and compassion has earned you the title of Douchebag of the Week!

There are so many Douchebags out there I have no idea how you ever narrow down the list to just one. At least there are 52 weeks in a year to give a bunch of them credit.
