A little known or noted fact about Google, worth about a half-trillion dollars, continually funds left-wing causes, especially the push for so-called Net Neutrality, is that while they claim to be against the companies that poured billions of dollars into getting high-speed Internet to nearly every home in the United States managing those networks so they don’t become congested to the point they are nearly worthless, manipulates searches Google users do. How?
Go to Google and search for a few prominent politician, famous person or historical event. Check out what is seemingly always on the first page of results, generally about 3rd. It’s Wikipedia! Seems kind of odd that SO MANY searches should turn up Wikipedia, doesn’t it? Not when you realize Google owns Wikipedia. Hmm, strange.
If Google were really interested in ensuring the Internet stays “open” like they claim, rather than spending millions pushing for federal regulation of a free-market, they should enter it. Building the physical structure to deliver Internet service to home is expensive, cable and phone companies have spent billions doing just that, but Google can afford it. They should put their money where their mouth is, lead by example, and put up or shut up. But companies like Google would much rather use their money to buy influence (with Congressmen like Ed Markey and John Conyers) and force their will on others than actually live the life they would like to force on others.
Essentially, they are as they appear to be; old fashioned liberals.
We would not cry at the fall of Google. We hope Berners-Lee is correct.
