Liberals Stand up for Fraud, Again.

Democrats sure love their kind of fraud.Liberals who hate Halliburton and Blackwater frequently attack the two companies for their “no-bid contracts”.  In a pure, amazing, terrific coincidence, Halliburton and Blackwater happened to have been headed, or are run by Republican leaning white men.  Nancy Pelosi, and Harry “I live in the Ritz Carlton” Reid shrieked about the Republican culture of corruption on the Senate floor time and time again. The Republican Party has chosen John McCain as it’s nominee for the 2008 presidential election.  Yet to be formally nominated, it appears that the nomination will be his later this year.  So what is one thing John McCain has done?  He blocked a no-bid deal with Pentagon Officials and the Boeing company that would have socked the tax payer for $6.2 billion

What happened next?   The Boeing Company was fined $615 million, Boeing’s CEO resigned, and the Chief Financial Officer went to jail.  One more time, John McCain’s actions led to the U.S. Treasury saving $6.2 billion, and sent criminals to jail.

What do the liberals think about this?  You think they would be happy that someone finally shed some light on these government contracts.  Let their words speak for themselves…

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA., echoing the thoughts of many congressional Democrats, sees McCain’s role in a less positive light. She said the earlier tanker deal was “on course for Boeing” before McCain started railing against it

“I hope the voters of this state remember what John McCain has done to them and their jobs,” said Rep. Norm Dicks, D-WA.

“We are sending the jobs overseas, all because John McCain demanded it.” – Rep. Rahm Emmanuel

It shows the air-wafer thickness of the democrat’s economic policy: they need to defraud the American tax payer to subsidize new jobs.

Here is another one, why was GTSI listed a small business for this multi-million dollar award “Adobe Acrobat Software Maintenance Renew”?

Did you know the former Clinton appointee Steven Kelman, who was the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy from 1993 to 1997, went to work for GTSI after he left. That is the same GTSI has been found to abuse Federal Small business contracting. (NYT – http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/06/business/06sba.html).

To this day GTSI continues to receive small business contracts. Federal small business contracting fraud cost US small business billions of dollars per year.

Since Mr. Kelman’s departure from the Clinton administration he has issued interesting public statements opposing reform in federal contract bundling. Keep in mind he is Professor of Public Management Harvard’s Kennedy School, a registered lobbyist and works for GTSI.

In 2002, Mr. Kelman stated, “The percentage of prime contract business going to small businesses is higher than it was in 1993 (before procurement reform), by several percentage points. In general, I don’t see much evidence in the data that (the system) is broken.” (http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/summary_0199-1957417_ITM)
