Douchebag of the Week.

Douchebag of the WeekThis week’s “winner” is very popular in left-wing circles.  In fact, he’s the most popular person in the liberal cocktail circuit right now – Senator Barack Obama.

The freshman Senator, who once in 2004, while running for the Senate, was the subject of this story:

…pulling out now would make things worse.

A quick withdrawal would add to the chaos there and make it “an extraordinary hotbed of terrorist activity,” he said.

It would also damage America’s international prestige and amount to “a slap in the face” to the troops fighting there

Now he wants to retreat immediately.  However, he said he would send troops back “if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq,” which shows a complete ignorance of who we’re fighting over there.  So if the fecal matter hits the fan (and there isn’t a serious scholar of the region who doesn’t think it would right now), Obama would:

“…reserve the right to go in and strike al-Qaida if they were in Iraq.”

Senator Barack Obama wants to retreat, run the risk of turning Iraq over to al-Qaida and, if that happens, send troops back.  No finishing the job while they’re there, just political points to be scored with those who would like nothing more than a defeat for the United States.

Add to that his silence on his wife’s “proud” comment (really a brave leader there), and his sending his wife out to fight another battle for him, this one about his middle name, Hussein (that’s his middle name, get over it.  Who the hell cares what someone’s name is, what he stands for is the problem.  Expect the “middle name victim card” to become a regular part of his hand in the coming months because it plays with those who don’t think), and you have the makings of a serious contender for Douchebag of the Year!

But it’s only February, so time will tell on that one.  Until the end of the year, Barack Obama has more than earned the title of Douchebag of the Week.
