Berkeley: We deeply respect our unwelcome intruders!

Berkeley mayor takes a break from

Berkeley, California has decided to allow the Constitution of the United States to stand, for now, when it comes to the United States Marines opening a recruiting center in their commune. The U-turn has little to do with the supporting our troops, as the city council would like the public to believe, and everything to do with what Senator Jim DeMint was proposing, de-funding Berkeley’s $2 million in earmarks.

When Berkeley declared the Marines “uninvited and unwelcome intruders,” they gave no pause to or caveat about supporting the troops, they simply didn’t want those charged with protecting their right to be anti-American to be anywhere near them.  Now that their federal funding was on the line, they’re trying to sing a different tune.

Don’t be fooled by quotes like this one from Councilwoman Linda Mao, er, Linda Maio:

“It’s behavior that we oppose, not the people.”

Who is it exactly that engages in the behavior?  Some abstract force?  No, it’s the people!

We’ve said it before, but it needs to be said again and again, how can someone say they support the someone but oppose everything they do?

We hope Senator DeMint pushes forward with his plan to remove Berkeley’s federal funds.  We support Berkeley, we just oppose everything they do.

Just as PS, replace Marines in Berkeley’s resolution with blacks, Jews or gays and rethink about it…

I just saw video on CNN that showed these “activists” burning their country’s flag. It was like a scene right off the streets of Tehran, etc. If they don’t like it here why don’t they move? For those on the Left that say they like the country not the govt. YOU are the govt. ever here the phrase “We the people…”?
