OK, Fattie, put down the fork and step away from the table.

Mississippi catches a lot of flack from the rest of the country, many jokes are either set in or make fun of our 20th state.  While residents of the state try hard to combat the stereotypes against it, three lawmakers are seemingly playing right into the hands of joke writers (too bad we are in the midst of a writer’s strike, because this would gold!).

Republicans W. T. Mayhall, Jr. and John Read, and Democrat Bobby Shows have introduced a bill to make it illegal for licenced restaurants to serve obese people.  Yes, it’s for real, let it sink in.

The bill will never pass, and it’s probably political suicide for the lawmakers because Mississippi ranks number one in obesity, but it’s just stupid anyway, and a prime example of government gone mad.
