Well, as long as he’s the guest of honor…

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is coming under scrutiny for hypocrisy on the mythical issue of unicorns, er, we mean global warming.  Just look at his plans after attending the UN summit on Bigfoot, er, global warming.

From today Evening Standard:

The South Korean has organised a post-conference trip, starting on Sunday, that will see him fly to attend the concert in New York, adding more than 4,300 miles to his itinerary. When he leaves the island after the summit Mr Ban will fly to East Timor, and then to Japan where he will briefly stop before catching another flight to the US.

The flight from Tokyo to New York takes him the wrong way around the world to arrive in time for the reception of a Korean concert-at Carnegie Hall, where he is the guest of honour. The concert is titled Around The World In Eighty Minutes.

Fear not, environMENTALists, the UN plans to offset their globe-trotting ways by giving our tax money away to “green” causes to make up for their pollution.  Isn’t that sweet of them?  They live the high-life while making it more expensive, if not completely unaffordable, for us to be able to afford to visit our families and make up for it by blocking development in the third world or planting trees.

After all, what’s more important, plumbing and clean water in a remote village or being able to attend an event where you’re being honored?  Besides, no reason to worry about poor nations, Madonna and Brad & Angelia will eventually adopt all those kids anyway, right?
