PAYGO is a Farce

Yes, we know we suck. But please don't tell anyone!

Do Americans want to pay more taxes out of the goodness of their hearts? If you ask the Senate, the answer is no by a resounding margin of 88-5. Senate democrats finally abandoned the joke that is PAYGO, and decided to let Americans off the tax hook of the AMT. For months, they had attempted to offset the lost consumption of tax payer dollars they would have stolen (gained, whatever) from the public through the AMT with other hidden taxes. When they realized pigs don’t fly, they finally gave in, and voted to patch the AMT for one year.

The House is holding onto their illusion, despite the fact that the entire world can see right through it. PAYGO does not require coming up with more funds when spending is increased on entitlements, nor do it’s rules work when applied to discretionary spending. It’s sort of like Three Card Monty, except instead of hustling one person on a street corner in New York, Pelosi and Crooked Crew are hustling 300 million Americans out of thousands in their very own Capitol building, all at once. Pretty good trick if you ask First Friday.
