Washington Math: The housing bill looks to spend $750,000 per home “saved” from foreclosure.

Congress is looking to spend $300 billion dollars on a bill that, according to their best estimates, will save 400,000 homes from foreclosure. For those of you scoring at home that’s $750,000 per home saved.

Either this is a millionaire housing bail-out bill or there’s some other stuff in there they aren’t talking about. We know there is thanks to CEI, but for this kind of money that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Al Gore: $4 gas is “an opportunity” (to make him even more money).

Former Vice-President Al Gore wants the United States to be free of oil use in 10 years when it comes to production of electricity.  That’s an ambitious goal, and unlikely since he opposes nuclear power and only supports wind and solar power, neither of which are capable of pull off the job since wind doesn’t always blow, the sun sets and there is no way to store energy, but that doesn’t stop him from making these ridiculous statements or the media from reporting them.

The laws of physics prove you cannot store energy without massive losses in output, something Gore should have learned in high school.  But having hundreds of millions of dollars invested in companies that would profit wildly from a massive government influx of cash seems to have cost Gore much of his memory.

Of current energy prices, Gore said, “I have never seen an opportunity for the country like the one that’s emerging now.”  Yay!  Since he called for massive tax increases in his book, Earth in the Balance, to force people to use less, one can understand why he’s as happy as he is about the current situation.   Since the earth has been cooling since 1998 while CO2 output has increased, thanks to China and India, one can only wonder why anyone still listens to Al Gore on the issue.

Out of sight, out of mind - the homeless and the Democratic Convention.

in an attempt to keep the homeless of Denver from putting a stain on Barack Obama’s coronation, liberals have come up with a way to “solve” the homeless problem in that city; send them to the movies.  It’s air conditioned, dark (so sleeping will be easy) and has $10 popcorn and other things most homeless can’t afford.  Hey, wait a second…

That’s right, to keep the homeless off the street during the convention they’re going to give out movie passes, passes to the zoo and passes to museums.  We weren’t aware that all the homeless were really lacking was entertainment dollars and culture, so that’s good to know.

This is typical of the campaign the libs are running this year, put out something with a nice shine on it but it means absolutely nothing.

A 17 year old volunteer at a homeless shelter, Kanye Coy, even sees through this scam.  “It just sounds like another way to get rid of them.”  It is, Kanye, it is.

80’s pop band banned in Atlanta? Not quite, just the PC police imposing their will on others.

Discrimination is an abomination, if you’re a sexist or racist you’re a jackass.  But claiming either of those doesn’t make the accusation so.  After all, they’re easy to claim and nearly impossible to disprove.  Enter Atlanta.

Anyone who has driven in car has seen the “Men at Work” signs warning you that people are working on the road ahead and don’t be a jerk and fly through the zone, though the doubled fines are usually more of a deterrent.  Well, woman named Cynthia Good didn’t look at those signs and think, “hey, I’d better be more alert, don’t want to kill anyone,” she looked at them and saw sexism!

Good started complaining about the signs because they weren’t gender inclusive and got the city to change them all.  As stupid as that is, Good isn’t done yet.

“We’re calling on the rest of the nation to follow suit and make a statement that we will not accept these subtle forms of discrimination.”

Discrimination to whom?  Who reads a road sign and gets pissed?  After she changes all of these signs across the country, and we think she will because she doesn’t seem to have a life and politicians are spineless, will she go after every town named Mansfield?  Where does it end?

Hey, Cindy Good, you clearly have issues but stop inflicting your neurosis on others and get a life!  It’s not like the world is like this anymore!

Democrats to unleash the Food Police in Denver.

Delegates and others attending the Democratic convention may want to stock up on Twinkies before heading to Denver. According to the Rocky Mountain News, the DNC has politically-correct rules promoting “organic” foods and barring “fried” foods. What we don’t understand, though, is the rule requiring three different colors per plate. Is this the Democrats’ quota mentality run amok? But surely this can’t be the case. If anyone knows the reason for this rule, we’re genuinely curious (especially since it may just be a matter of time before we have a Federal Food Police imposing these rules on the rest of us):

The Democratic National Convention host committee guidelines for caterers suggest serving mostly organic fare or Colorado products, and avoiding fried foods. The guidelines even suggest color schemes on plates. “This is the food police,” groused Denver City Councilman Charlie Brown on Monday. “These people stood in line too long at the Aspen Food and Wine Festival.” …DNC host committee meal guidelines

* Half a meal made up of fruits and/or veggies

* At least three of the following five colors on a plate - red, green, yellow, blue/purple and white (garnishes don’t count)

* No fried foods

* At least 70 percent of ingredients (based on precooked weight) certified organic and/or grown or raised in Colorado

* Use of reusable serviceware

* No bottled water, use pitchers instead

* Encourage staff to use alternative modes of transportation

Approval Ratings: Congress 9 percent, plague 12 percent.

Democrats sure know how to run a ship…straight into the ground.  After years of wishing for higher gas prices (see Al Gore’s Earth in the Balance) to fend off doomsday scenarios that are slowly being exposed as fraudulent, engaging in trade battles with our allies that cost us manufacturing jobs and countless over “feel good” measures that damage our economy and country, they’ve finally set the United States on the path towards their Utopia - total government dependence by enough voters to sustain their majority.  But a funny thing happened on the way…people didn’t like it.

Aside from their claim to want to rid the US of foreign oil by somehow creating energy from sources that don’t exist or can’t produce enough energy charge a battery while refusing to do the one thing we know for sure will do that: drill for the oil we have here, their government managed everything else is falling apart elsewhere.

Medicare and Medicaid are often held out as wonderful examples of how health care should be, “free” to everyone of a certain age or income.  That’s all well and good on paper but, just like communism and socialism, they don’t even come close to working in the real world.  More and more doctors are opting out of Medicare and Medicaid because of the price control scheme they employ to shave money off the bottom line.  But they don’t call it price controls because Americans inherently know those scams don’t work, so they call it “reimbursement.”  This is how government, especially big government, works; they can’t all it what it is so they cook up a nice sounding name that makes it seem as though they’re paying the doctors back for some cash they borrowed or something they expensed.  It’s price controls, plain and simple.

Bureaucrats set the “reimbursement” rates for damn near every service Medicare and Medicaid agree to cover (and that is just a fraction of the services available, by the way) to whatever they think it’s worth.  Not what it costs, what they think it’s worth.  Doctors are having enough and refusing to accept Medicare and Medicaid patients.  Who would operate at a loss simply because some faceless person you’ve never met before decides the value of a service you provide?

But fear not, people, this wonderful system is what liberals propose for all of us!  See, it’s not unfair if everyone suffers equally.

It could be argued that liberals are simply ignorant of the facts on health care, but the facts are out there in every person from Canada sent to the United States for cancer treatment because the wait time in Canada is too long, or person in Great Briton who cooks up a batch of fake blood to get a simple hernia operation, so there’s no way they don’t know.  The real truth is they don’t care.  It’s an opportunity to seize more power and more of our money for whatever unconstitutional social program they want to fund.  Besides, socialize medicine is great for when you have a headache or broken arm, it really only screws you over when you’re actually sick with something life-threatening, and those people die, therefore they can’t vote against you.

It’s as big of a scam as global warming, but this one will actually effect each and every one of us if they’re allowed to get their way.

Liberals have been luck so far, people’s anger has been directed towards the President as well as Congress, so they haven’t gotten the full credit for their agenda, yet.  But if Obama wins in the fall there will be no one left to blame once enough time passes and the “it was really screwed up when we got here” mantra starts to wear thin.

In the meantime, hopefully, a true small government, pro individual, free-market leader will emerge to lead the country back from the brink of the great mistake before it’s too late.

Weaseley Clark, er Wesley Clark, is moving on from Obama campaign…for a while.

Disgraced and fired former General Wesley Clark has “decided” to step away from the Obama campaign for a little while in the hope that the public forgets about his asinine comments about John McCain’s military record. Well, that’s not the official line since Clark isn’t an honest person, but that’s the official spin being given.

Seems Clark, who ran a campaign in ‘04 that made the Kucinich campaign look well organized and viable, wants to go back to making money, something liberals decry but do regularly.

The real reason is that the man is a disgrace and inadvertently unleashed other anti-military left-wing fascists to vent their true feelings about the armed forces, something the Obama campaign couldn’t allow.

But Wesley will be back if for no other reason than the Democrats lack anyone with military credibility so Clark is as close as they come.

Douchebag of the Week - Barack Obama

Douchebag of the Week! The fact that Barack Obama is a douchebag should come as no surprise to anyone; never before has a scripted puppet come so far without a serious challenge.  But this week word got out that he, along with several other Democrats, got a sweetheart deal on a home loan for his million dollar mansion.  Now, just to be clear, we don’t begrudge him and Michelle a nice house, they’ve made a lot of money, though most of her contribution came after he secured a million dollar earmark for her employer, oddly more than doubling her salary after that (hmm), and his money started rolling in once he was elected through book deals, which is also odd.  But we don’t begrudge them making money, they just don’t seem to want others to.  They’re both telling audiences to avoid working in the corporate world, to go into public service and activism.  Now, unless you’re working for a sham organization or the head of some group, you aren’t going to make a very good living taking that route, but whatever.  If you’re dumb enough to take career advice from a self-absorbed couple like the Obamas you get what you deserve.

Yet, while that contributes to Barack being a douchebag, that’s not why he won this week.  He won this week, as we said, because of strange yet lucrative mortgage deal he managed to secure for his mansion, which we’re certain is more house than he needs and is, therefore, contributing to global warming.

He cut a deal somehow with his bank to save about $300 per month by getting an interest rate lower than other people could, then his spokesman came up with a blatant lie to attempt to cover it up.  Here’s what the spokesman said:

Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said the rate was adjusted to account for a competing offer from another lender and other factors. “The Obamas have since had as much as $3 million invested through Northern Trust,” he said in a statement.

While that is more than enough for the in the tank, on the payroll hacks at Huffington Post, the facts get in the way a bit of this good “they dumped a lot of money into that bank” story.  See, they dumped that money into the bank AFTER they got the deal because they didn’t make it until AFTER they got the deal.  No bank in the world is going to give you a great rate because you MIGHT or even probably will make a ton of money in the future.  Your credit rating and what you qualify for as far as loans go are based upon the past and present, not the future.

Obama can’t explain this away, just like Chris Dodd can’t explain away why he got a sweetheart deal you couldn’t get while writing a bill to bail out the mortgage industry with your money, a bill Obama supports.

This double standard is why Barack Obama is the Douchebag of the Week, and we didn’t even have to consider the fact that Tony Rezko’s wife bought and then sold to the Obamas the empty lot next to their house because it was to be a package deal.  That’s convicted felon Tony Rezko, Obama’s long-term friend that he now claims to have very little knowledge of.

The global warming myth continues to hit home.

Global warming is freezing us to death!

Oh global warming, is there nothing you’re not responsible for?  You’re blamed for hot days, cold days, rainy days, drought, fires, pretty much everything that has caused problems for humans since the dawn of time, only this time we have a scapegoat, you.  And, by extension, capitalism.

Now global warming is being blamed for the rising cost of hurricane insurance because it may cause more and stronger hurricanes, even though there is no evidence and the last 2 years have been really slow for them.  But the environuts can’t complain about it without undercutting their own religion - that global warming is going to kill us all if we don’t ruin our economy, or something close to that.  So the hurricane insurance industry is taking advantage of what these lefties put in front of them.  Look for other industries to take advantage of these sorts of opportunities in the future.  It’s hilarious when liberal’s plans backfire.

Also, dear, sweet global warming, you are responsible for the floods in the Midwest, or so it would seem.  But it is highly doubtful a jury would or could convict you for this one since, well, rivers flood, and they tend to flood areas in the flood plain.  strange how that works out.

You have to love this quote from Amanda Staudt, a “climate scientist.”

Although no single weather event can be attributed to global warming, it’s critical to understand that a warming climate is supplying the very conditions that fuel these kinds of weather events.”

Allow us to translate:  Since these things have happened since the beginning of time and we have no actual proof of man-made global warming, we’ll just say it seems like this is global warming’s fault and leave it at that safe in the knowledge that the media is fully in the tank for us.  PS, please give me a government grant so I can study something we’ve claimed is settled science even longer.

What a scam.  Why this is a news story is anyone’s guess.

What a coincidence, Harry Reid makes us sick.

If you’re looking for energy independence, don’t look to the Democrat controlled Congress because they don’t want to help you.  Sure, we could drill here, build more refineries and become much more self-sufficient while we develop and deploy the next generation of energy (when it is discovered), but not this this ass-clown running the Senate.

Speaker Pelosi: Supreme Court doesn’t really matter when I disagree with them.

And THIS was a good hair day for Speaker Pelosi. It wasn’t safe to be between Nancy Pelosi and a microphone when the Supreme Court ruled non-American enemy combatants had the same right to habeas corpus as Americans do, even if they’ve never set foot in this country.  She ran out to the cameras faster than the Road Runner *meep-meeping* through a maze of ACME booby-traps.

The SCOTUS was the final word in holding the Bush Administration accountable, she said, without noting that SCOTUS had over tuned a previous SCOTUS decision to arrive at what she wanted.  Stare decisis, the buzz word for every SCOTUS nomination hearing, matters not on matters that matter to liberals.

But now, with the Heller case going in favor of liberty, in clear favor of the Constitution, The Joker doesn’t sing the same tune.

“I think it still allows the District of Columbia to come forward with a law that’s less pervasive. I think the court left a lot of room to run in terms of concealed weapons and guns near schools.”

Well, they did on the last two accounts, technically.  But the reason they did is because those issues weren’t before the court in this case.  Heller wasn’t seeking to wander through schools with a pistol, he wanted to keep a gun in his own home without having to call the SWAT team when he need to move it from one room to another.  Crazy, right-wing bastard!

See, when a conservative ruling comes down the Justices rule on the case before them, and only the case before them.  They don’t go further into other non-related areas of law and impose new rules on everyone.  The opinion, brilliantly writing by Justice Scalia, clearly articulates the history of the Second Amendment and its meaning. Hate the decision all you want, Libs, it won’t make any difference.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.

Ralph Nader goes after Obama for “acting white.”

How someone “acts white” or “acts black” is something we are glad we don’t understand, though we’re less happy about know people who “act like jackasses.”  Such is the case with perpetual also-ran Ralph Nader.

The other day he sat down with the Rocky Mountain News (must’ve been a really slow news day in Denver) and accused Barack Obama of “acting white.”

“He wants to show that he is not a threatening . . . another politically threatening African-American politician,” Nader said. “He wants to appeal to white guilt. You appeal to white guilt not by coming on as black is beautiful, black is powerful. Basically he’s coming on as someone who is not going to threaten the white power structure, whether it’s corporate or whether it’s simply oligarchic. And they love it. Whites just eat it up.”

Can’t really imagine anyone waking up on November 5th with buyer’s remorse realizing they voted for a Marxist because of “white guilt,” whatever the hell that is.

Way to go, Ralph, just when we thought you couldn’t be any more irrelevant you go an prove us wrong.  Well played, Yoda, well played.

The New Republic displays the can’t do spirit that made this country great!

The collective brainpower of the left turned on a light bulb that you can see if you squint. Or it might just be sunspots. This thinking also demonstrates why the right has been winning the battle of ideas for a long time now.

The editors at The New Republic have come together to tell us why we should not develop 800 billion barrels of oil in the continental U.S via oil shale - because we cannot do it efficiently yet. There’s the spirit that made America great.

What if we apply that logic to anything and everything else? What we cannot do efficiently, we should just stop doing, shrug, pack our bags, and go home. Tell the Wright Brothers they’re clowns because man had been trying to fly for over 100 years (ask DaVinci). We should have stopped treating diseases long ago, and told all the sick and dying to tough it out because we cannot treat them efficiently. Humanity should lie down and submit to despots, because there is no perfect and efficient way to rid the world of despots.

TNR’s second argument is that oil shale will emit more greenhouse gases than conventional oil. The same greenhouse gases that have caused the IPCC chair to admit that there has been no significant cooling since 1998? The same greenhouse gasses that promise 15 more years of cooling before they magically heat up again?

And that’s it. That’s all they have. Those are the rock solid reasons per the left that we should leave oil shale in the ground, and continue to starve the world while we burn their corn for trips to the shopping mall.

As almost anyone can see by reading the article, there’s no reason not to drill for oil shale.

We have yet to check and see if the words are original or simply pasted from the latest Al Gore speech…

Douchebag of the Week - Barack Obama

Douchebag of the Week! The fact that Barack Obama is a douchebag surprises no one, but it’s not often someone in his position so clearly illustrates their douchebaggery for the world to see and releases a video to try to justify it.

Obama, after promising to take public funds for the upcoming election and supporting public financing of elections, has decided to do the exact opposite and continue to raise cash from whoever will give it to him. This not only means his word is as good as $3 bill, but that we can expect to hear more stories about little old ladies who sold their dentures to be able to send him $20 because they believe in change, or some such crap. (As an aside, what kind of jackass would take money from someone like that? Sure, you have to have an enormous ego to run for President, but to take money from someone who clearly can’t afford it, damn. If $20 from an old lady is the deal-breaker, maybe, but only maybe. It really shows someone’s character to take that money.)

The reason Obama’s word is no longer operative is the evil Republicans will spend money through 527’s and the RNC. Yes, groups like Moveon.org and Moving America Forward are just sitting out there in the weeds waiting to pounce on poor Barack. Oh, wait, those are liberal groups funded by billionaires who never run out of money. Yes, there are 527’s on the right, but they are hardly funded to the degree the socialist ones are, and none are funded by a Bond Villain wannabe like George Soros.

Obama has done us a favor my refusing to take public money, and not just by not pissing our tax dollars away (though it’s kind of ironic that he won’t piss away our tax dollars to run for office, but pissing away our tax dollars seems to be the entire premise of what would be his presidency), but by exposing himself as a man whose word means absolutely nothing when it no longer serves him. So, thanks, Barack. And just to show our complete gratitude, consider yourself the biggest douchebag around today. You’re our Douchebag of the Week.

Here is Obama’s video announcing that his word isn’t worth a bucket of spit. Notice how the greatest orator since sliced bread reads every word from a cue card held just up and to the right of the camera.

Change we can be sold, er, believe in - Obama and image control.

The Obama campaign is now in complete pre-damage control mode. They’re limiting access to Barack because they want to control what people see and, more importantly, what he says when not reading a teleprompter. How can we say that when Chris Matthews gets a thrill up his leg every time Obama talks? First of all, Chris should probably get to a doctor to check out that “thrill” because it’s not natural. Second, we can say so because of this clip of just a few of Obama’s unscripted moments that make Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes Scholar.

The push to kill the Fairness Doctrine.

Sad but true.

There was a big press conference on the Hill yesterday to mount pressure on Members of Congress who voted for a one year ban on the so-called Fairness Doctrine, but have yet to sign on for a permanent ban.  The conference was led by Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) and you can listen to the audio here.

The Fairness Doctrine is an out-dated federal regulation that used to require equal time for all issues on the airwaves, meaning 3 hours of Rush Limbaugh would either have to be “balanced” with 3 hours of some lefty or Rush would have to have a lefty in studio with him to make it kosher with the feds.  It would make the federal government de facto program director of all talk radio.  Anyone interested in freedom should be outraged by that prospect returning.

There is a new website that just launched that exposes those who would pay lip-service to free speech but not stand up for it, the Hypocrisy Caucus.  Check it out and see where your Member of Congress stands.  If they’re wrong, let them know.

By the way, McCain is opposed to the Fairness Doctrine and Obama has yet to say anything on it.

Douchebag of the Week - Harry Reid.

Douchebag of the Week!Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is not an honest man.  Not a wealthy man when he was first elected to office, he now finds himself to be very, very wealthy, much of his wealth comes from shady land deals that benefited from his position in the Senate.  But that is not why he wins this week.

Harry Reid wins this week for attempting to force the largest tax increase in history down the throats of the American people without debate.  While originally promising an open and honest debate, Reid then decided to move in a more familiar direction - the opposite one.  He blocked any attempt at amending the monstrous Lieberman-Warner bill, not that you could really make that better through any means other than setting it on fire, and tried to force people to take it as is.  The bill ended up only getting 48 votes in favor of cloture, far short of the 60 needed, and died.

The fact of the matter is Reid and the Democrats don’t want to have an honest, open debate on global warming, or climate change, or whatever the next name they will come up with to impose Socialism will be, because they’ll lose.  When the American people learn that earth has been cooling since 1998, that there are more climate scientists who believe the sun, that big ball of fire in the sky that gives us all of our heat, is what causes temperature fluctuations here on earth, and that the vast majority of the “solutions” to this mythical problem do absolutely nothing to address it, but do rob us of our liberty, they will run the Democrats out of town on rails.  That’s why Reid wouldn’t, no, couldn’t allow debate on this bill.  He’s counting on big wins in November to be able to force this pap down our throats with a friendly, hook, line and sinker President sitting at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue who will sign it, no matter which guy wins.

Harry Reid, for all you do, this Bud’s for you, and so is the Douchebag of the Week Award.  Congratulations.

Howard Kurtz calls out MSNBC on bias.

It's funny cuz it's true.

You know it has to be pretty bad when the Washington Post points out a liberal media bias, but that’s exactly what Howard Kurtz does in today’s edition.

In a piece called “MSNBC, Leaning Left And Getting Flak From Both Sides,” Kurtz quotes NBC Senior Vice-President Phil Griffin as saying:

“We have people with multiple points of view. Everyone is getting a little thin-skinned. We argue and debate every topic.”

Here’s a bit of advice for our friends at MSNBC; You can’t claim balance when the “conservatives” or “Republicans” you have on your network consist of John Dean and Pat Buchanan, because they aren’t either any more, except when compared to the hosts and reporters on the rest of the network.

Media shocked by market forces in home sales, what else is new?

Houses cost money.

The fact that the media is be shocked by the news that new home sales increased in the last month is very telling about their intelligence and ability to even think rationally.  Here’s why…

Remember all the stories about how home prices were going through the roof?

Then, remember all the stories about how they’ve peaked?

Then, remember all the stories about how they were “too high” and bound to come down?

Then, remember how they came down?

Then the government wanted to save everyone from mortgages they signed in good faith, but hasn’t yet?

When the prices dropped to where the properties were worth it again, they started selling.  This is called a correction in the real world, it’s called a “crisis” in Washington, especially in an election year.

Congress should do nothing about the “housing crisis” and allow the market to rebound the way it always has, when not bastardized by the government.

Global Warming, the biggest scam in human history, keeps getting bigger: UK considers personal carbon ration cards.

Pope Goreus the VI is a very rich man.The hysteria whipped up by the global warming/climate change crowd never ceases to amaze, and the public’s willingness, at least in Europe, to go along with the scams cooked up to “address” it elicits the same reaction. Never mind the fact that the earth has been cooling since 1998, making all the data showing doom and gloom suspect, at best, and a flat-out money/power/liberty grab at worst (where we fall), there’s no money in everything being the way it’s been forever, no money in the earth’s temperature being controlled by the giant fire ball in the sky that gives us all our heat, no money in the truth in this area of “science.” Where there’s no money there’s no power, and no power grab by the government, so it must be ignored.

The latest example put forth to save us from ourselves is an idea in England to issue each person a personal carbon ration card. Each person would be given a set amount of carbon they are allowed to release through heating their home, buying gasoline, plane tickets, pretty much everything but breathing, though a tax on that can’t be too far off. Once they reach the government allowed limit through that pesky polluting activity called living, individuals would have to purchase more credits from people who were home-bound, carless and/or simply always comfortable as far as temperature goes for whatever price the market sets. Until, naturally, someone complains they can’t afford the market price, then the government will set it.

Barely mentioned in the article is the “specialist company” that would be set up to handle the sale of credits between those who have them to spare and those who need them. It would be as simple as a gift card transaction or a PayPal deal on eBay, and really wouldn’t need a 3rd party butting in and taking a cut. But that’s not how the “environmental” movement works, there’s too damn much money in it. Even Pope Goreus the VI, commonly called Al Gore, has seen his personal wealth rise exponentially thanks to the hysterics he’s helped whip up. Al, if we’re all going to die and it’s so important, why not invest your money, then give the profits away to organizations seeking to make a difference? You can’t take it with you. Could it be that all the little carbon offset companies, etc., you pluck your cash into are simply ways to get even more rich? It would explain why you don’t fly commercial over private jets, after all, being asked to sign a few autographs can’t be such a big inconvenience that you need to increase your carbon footprint by a Statue of Liberty every time you want to go somewhere. Who knows, maybe he’s collecting enough cash to build a giant raft? Does a billion float if all tied together by, undoubtedly, hemp rope?

It’s only a matter of time before scams like this become law somewhere, and even a shorter period of time after that they will make their way over here and be assimilated by the Left as a way to save us from the evils of Capitalism.

You’ve been warned, now warn others.

Henry Waxman: a boy and his gavel

Congressman Henry Waxman, the joyless liberal from California (who single handedly disproves the theory that Californians base everything on looks), recently acted like a little kid (or perhaps Nikita Kruschev, if you know his politics and remember the shoe) during a hearing he was chairing on ozone standards.  This is actually typical of Waxman, unpleasant human being that he is, he’s a fan of his own power, not the rules.

Massachusetts town seeks to ban the bag, the plastic grocery bag.

Attack of the killer plastic bags!Plymouth, Massachusetts, the settlement founded by the Pilgrims to escape religious persecution is now seeking to impose some religious persecution of their own…on people who use don’t worship at the Holy Church of Global Warming.

The town is considering a flat-out ban on plastic bags for grocery stores and drug stores.  Why?  Because they’re petroleum-based.  (And possibly because they have a hand in making money from garbage like this.)

The bags being targeted are petroleum-based, lightweight, low-cost and water-resistant. They are widely used by businesses and popular with the public. Worldwatch Institute, a Washington-based global research organization with environmental concerns, has long opposed the bags. Americans throw out more than 100 billion plastic shopping bags a year. They end up in landfills, even though they take centuries to decompose, according to a Worldwatch report, and less than 1 percent are recycled. They also clog storm drains, pollute the ocean, harm marine life, and blight the landscape, the report stated.

Who would’ve ever thought that an environmentalist group would release a report that was favorable to their goals?  What a strange coincidence.  Seems you have to give up liberty and choice for the planet, read: the greater good.

Isn’t is amazing how liberals can run around complaining about and fear-mongering about the government listening in on conversations between two people, neither of whom is in the United States, yet while screaming about a loss of rights that isn’t will actually make small, baby-step moves like this one to literally rob us of our liberty.  Death by a thousand paper cuts, and all for the greater good…just like Fascism.

Douchebag of the Week - Bernie Ward.

Douchebag of the Week. The competition this week was an easy one when the news broke today that liberal radio talk show host Bernie Ward decided to cop a plea and admit to trafficking in child pornography.  Sure, there were many options, the media and the way they’ve pounced on Hillary Clinton to undercut her fund raising and pressure her to drop out (since they don’t like their party in disarray), or Barack Obama for using code words to try to make John McCain’s age an issue.  But anyone involved in child pornography is the ultimate douchebag.

While we hope Ward spends a long, miserable life in prison, we couldn’t help but notice that his friends (and they were friends) at the Huffington Post have neglected to mention his guilty plea (or much at all about him once his guilt became clear, not even denouncing him).  Funny how liberals love, absolutely love to revel in the misery of some people but attempt to repress and deny that anyone on their side is scum.  Scum knows no political ideology, we can admit it, but the so-called “progressives” can’t, or won’t.  Whatever the reasons, the fact remains.

While Huffington and Kos certainly deserve honorable mention for their dishonestly and hypocrisy on this matter, nothing trumps Bernie Ward’s douchebaggery.  You can read about his plea deal here, but know he is the ultimate douchebag

The UAW has trouble committing voter fraud. Can’t these unions do anything right?

Yes, the UAW is corrupt. The Indiana UAW has run into a bit of bad PR.  Seems they wanted to help their members vote in the upcoming Democrat primary, so they took the liberty of filling out a portion of their members’ application requesting an absentee ballot for them because, you know, those things can be complicated to fill out.

“…the part of the application that designated what party ballot was being requested in the May 6 primary election, the type of ballot and the reason for requesting an absentee ballot were filled out in advance.”

That didn’t fly and, thankfully, all were rejected.

Last time we checked the UAW wasn’t able to read minds or see the future, or else they would see their undying loyalty to Democrats is what’s killing their industry, but that doesn’t stop them from trying.  They assumed all 500 of their members were Democrats…interesting.

You have to wonder if those 500 people had even planned on voting in the primary, or if their union was just going to take care of that for them, too.

Hat tip to election journal.

Remember liberty? New Jersey is considering taxing fast food.

There's truth here. It’s amazing that politicians think the people who elected them are too stupid to make any other decisions for themselves.  Being in Washington we can swear to you that politicians are not the smartest group of people you will ever meet, many are simply idiots.  Either they are just plain stupid or have lived a life so disconnected from the reality most people know that if they were forced to fend for themselves they would starve to death within 2 weeks, provided they didn’t poison themselves by attempting to cook chicken first.

Yet they think, no, they KNOW what is best for us.  Be it something large like health care, or something small like what kind of food we should eat, they seek to impose their will on us because they hold us in intellectual contempt.  But it’s actually deeper than that.

They want our money because they know how to better spend it than we do, or so they think.  If they really cared about the things they claim to they would act differently.  But there’s no money in it.

Cigarette taxes are a perfect example of this phenomenon.  Smoking is bad for you, no one claims otherwise, but people are free to choose to do it because people are free…at least for now.  Under the guise of protecting people from the health hazards of smoking politicians tax the hell out of it.  They claim this will stop people from smoking, thereby saving them from themselves.  In reality, if they cared so much, they would seek to ban tobacco.  The only problem with that is there’s no money in it. So taxing it, increasing the price just enough that people will grumble but still buy them, they get more money with which to do their “important” work, like get buildings named after themselves.  Drive through West Virginia and count the Robert Byrd this or that structures you see to get an idea of what we’re talking about.  (For someone who waives the Constitution around and preaches that it’s a sacred document as much as he does, he doesn’t have a problem violating it if it means his name will be carved in stone.)

But smoking is an easy target, a tap-in putt.  People who don’t smoke have been led to believe that the mere existence of a lit cigarette in their zip code will cause them to get cancer and die, even though there is no evidence of second-hand smoke causing cancer, unless you live in a phone booth with a heavy smoker for 50 years.  But facts be damned, there’s money to be made.

The legislature in New Jersey, however, is venturing into a minefield when it comes to “sin taxes,” fast food.

It’s just in the floating around stage right now, but so was prohibition and smoking bans before the first trigger was pulled.

No one who holds elected office will go on record as thinking it’s a good idea, but don’t doubt for a second that in cloakrooms they’re trying to find a way to frame the case.  And people like Maureen Felix are already gearing up to support the surrendering of individual rights for the “common good.”  When asked about the idea, Ms. Felix said:

“I think this country has gone too much in the direction of fast and unhealthy food, and if people are taxed they may terminate that and turn toward more healthy foods.”

Maureen clearly is in tip-top shape, right?  If you watch the video she isn’t obese, but she’s not exactly what someone would aspire to look like.

Still, she’s typical of the problem in this country: people who think they know better than everyone else what’s good for them and are willing to use the power of government to impose it.  The rest of us would just assume be left the hell alone.  But that’s not how liberals work.

So, as stories of food shortages and increasing food costs increase in frequency thanks to ethanol subsidies (again, a “we know better than you” idea about the myth of global warming from our liberal counterparts), think about having to pay more for some of the cheapest life-sustaining food around.  Sure, a salad would be better for you, but people work and don’t always have time for a salad.  Plus, burgers taste damn good.

But remember, eating fast food all the time, or even very often, is unhealthy, will make you fat and shorten your life.  Then eat as much as you want and become unhealthy, fat and die young, it’s your call…for now.

And keep an eye on the people you send to Washington, your state capitol or city hall to “represent” you.  More often than not they’re acting to repress you.

Card Check: How Unions hope for force more people to join up.

Under current law, if you or your co-workers want to form a union, as side from a bunch of rigmarole having to do with paperwork, you have to put it to a vote of your fellow co-workers.  Seems fair enough if you’re going to forcibly take a portion of their check for what usually ends up being political purposes that have little to do with the “protections” the union is supposed to provide for that money.  That vote has always been by secret ballot, as it should be since it’s nobody’s damn business which way you vote.

Well, since unions are losing members faster than the Titanic took on water, and less people are wanting to join a union, union bosses have dusted off an old stand by method of “encouraging” people to join: intimidation.

They want to remove the voting part of the process and just go to a system called “card check,” or filling out a card saying you support the idea of you and your fellow employees having a secret vote of whether or not to unionize.  Routinely a majority of employees will support their fellow employee’s desire to hold a vote on unionization but will vote against unionizing in the secret ballot portion of the process.  Under a card check regime, filling out the card in support of a vote becomes the vote, and how you filled out that card is public knowledge.

While this ad opposing card check in support of the private ballot exaggerates the point slightly, it’s not really that far from the truth.  Guess that’s what you get when the Democrat Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of labor unions.
