Hillary Clinton tries the old switcheroo.

Hillary wearing the hat of some of her big donors.Hillary tries the old On the day the news broke that the Clinton campaign fired or demoted Mark Penn (3 months too late), her chief strategist and pollster, Hillary needed a distraction, or so some seem to think, so she called for the US to boycott the opening ceremonies of the Olympics over China’s treatment of Tibet.  Not exactly the bravest stance ever, still it’s something more people should be talking about.

The idea of a full boycott of the games has yet to be vocalized by anyone of significant and, as much as we dislike the Chinese government, a full boycott probably isn’t the best way to go.  Not only will it harm our athletes who have trained and lived their lives for these games, it won’t have any difference.  Simply boycotting the open ceremonies will have the same effect.

So it’s a good thing Hillary came out and said what other world leaders have said.  We just wonder if this will mean a reduction in campaign contributions to her from busboys and dishwashers…

Yet Another Hillary Lie

In what’s become an all too familiar pattern, HRC is at it again. This time telling us the heart wrenching story about a pregnant woman in Ohio being turned away at the emergency room because she lacked health insurance. In what surely was the creation of one of her well paid political consultants aimed to humanize HRC and dispel the idea that she is in the race only for her own self interests, the story plays well in the stump. One problem…it turns out the story is a big fat lie. The hospital in question has recently come out saying that the story HRC is peddling is simply not accurate. And in typical Clinton fashion, Hillary is now telling us that she was repeating the story as was told by someone else….

Of course Hillary. Given your stellar record of truth telling and transparency like Whitewater, your tax returns, Bosnia, etc…this latest swan song was simply a misunderstanding.

Obama has been all over the map on Iraq.

 Obama shoes

From Barack Obama’s Senatorial Website:

“In October 2002, before being elected to the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama made a speech opposing the Bush Administration’s plan to go to war in Iraq because he felt it was an ill-conceived venture which would “require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undermined cost, with undetermined consequences.” Now, as a U.S. Senator, Senator Obama has continued to critique the Administration’s mishandling of this war, and believes that while our troops have done an outstanding job in Iraq, there can be no military solution to what is inherently a political conflict between Iraq’s warring factions.”

Other Things Obama Has Said:

Chicago Tribune in July 2004, “There’s not that much difference between my position and George Bush’s position at this stage.”

Senate Campaign, 2004:

[I] would be willing to send more soldiers to Iraq if it is part of a strategy that the President and military leaders believe will stabilize the country and eventually allow America to withdraw.

“If that strategy made sense and would lead ultimately to the pullout of U.S. troops but in the short term required additional troop strength to protect those who are already on the ground, then that’s something I would support,”

PBS’s Charlie Rose, post Senate victory:

[O]nce the decision was made, then we’ve got to do everything we can to stabilize the country, to make it successful, because we’ll have too much at stake in the Middle East. And that’s the position that I continue to take.
