It’s 3:00 am and the crisis is economic? Hillary Clinton is really stretching it.

Of all the calls the President could get at 3:00 am, one that says a small fraction of Americans bit off way more than they could chew because they gambled and lost on real estate investments isn’t going to be one of them.  News like that can wait till the morning, or even lunch.  What’s next, “It’s 3:00 am, the phone rings in the White House because you have a leg cramp…”  There’s only so much a President can do when people take a chance and lose, otherwise there would be a disbursement office for government checks in Vegas.

This is the news ad from the Clinton campaign about just that.  Notice how they have an old guy sitting there while the phone rings and the voice-over talks about McCain, then they cut to a black couple ignoring the phone, too.  Who do you think that is supposed to be?

Here’s an idea: What happens in a mortgage company’s office should stay in a mortgage company’s office – READ AND UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU SIGN WHEN YOU ARE MAKING THE BIGGEST EXPENDITURE IN YOU LIFE! Is that too much to ask? Don’t bury yourself in more debt than you can afford then come and take our money to cover your mistakes.

We hope property values continue to drop to a level where the market, which was way out of whack because people were snapping up houses thinking they would never drop caused them to rise, says they should be so the rest of us who could not afford a house and chose wisely not to gamble on a no-interest loan could actually afford one.  Crazy talk, we know, but correct.

Feel badly for the people who will lose their house, but that it, they shouldn’t be helped, they are adults who made a bad decision that bit them.  Learn from it and move on.  Also, many of them are choosing not to make payments because property values have dropped so much they think they’re paying too much more than the house is worth, so they walk away.  Do they deserve help?  No, but that’s not how the government works.  The government just takes our money and throws it around like it’s Johnny Appleseed in a planting frenzy while we get screwed and the problem is simply pushed off into the future rather than being dealt with now.  Sickening and typical for government.

Shine a Light premiere – The Stones, Scorsese and politics = Good Times.

Elizabeth and Dennis Kucinich with Grover and Samah Norquist.

Politics makes for strange bedfellows, as the old saying goes, but last night at the DC premiere of the new Rolling Stones concert film directed by Martin Scorsese, the bedfellows were very strange indeed.  Not only was the event co-hosted by former First Friday special guest Grover Norquist and David Brock from Media Matters, two people with less in common than a glass of water and knife fight, but we found Grover having a long chat with Congressman and perpetual Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.  These are two people who couldn’t agree on the time if they were both looking at the same watch, yet the Stones brought them together.

We kid, both are actually very nice people, though we think everything Kucinich does politically is crazy (we say politically because he did marry his wife).

Other notables at the event were Senator Byron Dorgan, FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell, Paul Begala, Bill Press (who had to leave early) and two other former First Friday guests, Jim Pinkerton and Christopher Hitchens.  This is the only picture we took because there was a party to attend immediately after and, well, it’s not like us to pass on free hooch and a chance to chat with Hitch.

Former Air America and current TalkUSA executive, and husband of Senator Debbie Stabenow, busted in hooker sting.

Senator Debbie Stabenow talks about her Husband's business dealings.

Considering how much Eliot Spitzer was shelling out for hookers, liberal Thomas Athans comes across like a bargain shopper.  Athans, husband of Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow and former executive for Air America, the failed left-wing talk radio network, and current big cheese at the failing left-wing TalkUSA radio network, was busted meeting up with a 20 year old prostitute and paying her $150 for sex

He wasn’t arrested or charged, but did agree to cooperate with police in their investigation.

Senator Stabenow, obviously upset about this, released a statement and hasn’t been seen since.  Athans, and his radio networks, both past and present, haven’t been heard from since either.  But you’d think there would be some outrage, not over the fact that he went to a hooker, but over the bargain basement price he shelled out for it.  Spitzer, it could be argued, paid his “friend” a living wage, Athans not so much.  Then again, Athans moved from the Titanic to the Exxon Vadez in his career, so maybe money is a bit tight.

How to lose votes and alienate superdelegates by Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton is pissed.

It’s tough to tell if Bill Clinton wants Hillary to win his party’s nomination or wants to make sure she doesn’t.  The smart money would be on that he doesn’t because that sure seems to be what he’s working towards.

In a meeting with California superdelegates, Bill went off on a red-faced rant about how the media is treating his wife, Bill Richardson endorsing Barack Obama and just about everything else under the sun.  Said one superdelegate in attendance, “It was one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended.”  And this is a Democrat talking!

Not the best way to help the wife.

Pizza Hut fires employee after he defends himself against an armed robber by shooting suspect.

James Spiers defended himself against this and was fired by Pizza Hut.

James William Spiers III needs a job now that Pizza Hut fired him for defending himself against an armed robber.  Getting fired is not exactly the type of response you would expect from your employer when you defend yourself, but in this litigious age where trial lawyers own a political party to the point that businesses are afraid of lawsuits that could cost them millions, it’s not surprising either.

So if you know anyone in the Des Moines, Iowa area who is looking to hire someone, tell them to look up James Spiers, he’s available.

And don’t eat at Pizza Hut until James has a new job.  Let them know that self-defense is our right, and the right thing to do.

April Fool’s joke about Hillary literally pimping out Chelsea to date millionaires for fund raising.

Hillary Clinton shows off the goods.

Hopefully everyone tried some sort of April Fool’s Day joke yesterday while not falling for one.

This one isn’t bad, mostly because you could see it actually happening.

The headline says it all: Chelsea Clinton Joins Millionaire Match to Raise Money for Mom

“When asked about it, Hillary Clinton, in a battle for the Democratic presidential nomination said, ‘Right now it is about funding the campaign and what better way than for Chelsea to date a few millionaires who can help us out in the final stretch? She’s gone on dates with Superdelegates, so why not millionaires?’”

Sidney Bloomenthal claims to have 3rd hand knowledge about McCain…and no one cares because it’s Sidney Bloomenthal.

Sidney Blumenthal sober, we assume.Former flying monkey for the Clintons, Sidney Blumenthal, most recently in the news for driving drunk, claims to have knowledge of Senator and GOP Presidential nominee John McCain’s flirting with leaving the Republican Party to become an Independent or a Democrat.  Though his statement is less believable than Bill Clinton’s “I never felt like we were alone” or “It depends upon what the meaning of ‘is’ is,” Blumenthal isn’t really known for letting the facts get in the way of a good story.

This is what he offered the media and a crowd at a bookstore as “evidence:”

“And although he doesn’t want to talk to reporters about it now, there was a time and I was privy to some of those who were involved, did conduct negotiations through third parties about whether or not he would leave the Republican Party and become an independent more or less aligned in the Senate with the Democrats.”

Well, there you have it, definitive proof!  The only way there could be more damning evidence is if, just as in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, someone had heard it from the neighbor’s cousin’s sister’s brother.

Maybe poor Sid needs to sell books to pay for his increased car insurance.  A DUI can be raise those prices a bit.
