Earth to the Liberal blogosphere—McCain’s plagiarism borrowed from……himself. Oops.

Great piece by Dean Barnett in the Weekly Standard on the liberals who jumped the gun in alleging McCain had lifted from an admiral’s speech back in 1996.  Turns out the admiral had lifted from a McCain speech in 1995!Other insights on the Obama campaign in here as well…

Obama puts money where Jeremiah Wright’s mouth is.

Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright.

Obama’s church has come into considerable notoriety based on the controversial remarks made by it’s recently retired minister, Reverend Wright. Since the disclosing of rabid sermons that have enraged many Americans, Obama has sought to calm the winds by attempting to justify Wright’s sermons based on his experiences. Obama has clarified that he does not agree with what the Reverend said. Obama has even gone so far as to suggest he might have left the church had Rev. Wright stayed on.

Obama is certainly putting the verbal spacing between the two. His words will have to speak much louder than what his money says.

While Obama was pondering leaving the church, he donated $22,500 to it in 2006. Not quite chump change. Most people are not in the practice of donating heavily to organizations that have speakers they do not agree with. That said, Obama should receive credit for his public disclosure of his tax returns; clarity is important when considering national leaders. Even if it raises questions about affiliations with strange ministers.

Markets Should Determine Credit Card Fees, Not Politicians.

The government wants in your wallet even deeper. The Wall Street Journal appropriately savages two members of Congress for trying to interfere with market forces in the credit card industry. The editorial explains that some retailers don’t like paying fees to credit card companies, but then points out that retailers don’t have to accept credit cards if they think the 2 percent fee is too high.

The politicians should be condemned for their potentially destructive legislation, but the businesses lobbying for price controls on fees deserve greater scorn. Unlike politicians, who instinctively seek to undermine freedom, the retailers should know better than to support government intervention in the private economy.

Obama continues to lie.

Barack Obama points to the one person he has yet to lie to…

You have to love it when a politician gets caught in a lie because before they’re busted you know they’re doing it but proving it is difficult.  Once you get proof, then the fun begins.  Their supporters do all sorts of contortions to justify or explain why it’s not a lie and the candidate tries to avoid the press so they’re aren’t asked about it.  Since this is Barack Obama and the press is so deeply in his camp, don’t expect many news outlets to pick up on this, but be aware of it anyway.  It goes to character.

Late last year, in response to a Politico story about Obama’s answers to the original questionnaire, his aides said he “never saw or approved” the questionnaire.

They asserted the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize(d) his position.”

But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago non-profit group that issued it. And it found that Obama – the day after sitting for the interview – filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes adding to one answer.

Basically, Obama’s campaign has denied he’s an extreme leftist, portraying him as a “uniter” and centrist.  Since there is no record upon which to base this claim and all the evidence points to the opposite being true, the media has ignored it.  Slowly, even they will have to come to terms with the fact that they are going to have to look at their savior with some sort of skeptical eye if they are to maintain any of their limited credibility.  Seems like Politico might start doing that.  If there’s one thing that can turn a media out let against you it’s lying to them.
