There’s a pretty good article in today’s LA Times about John Hughes and his influence over the movies and movie makers of today. The one thing missing from the piece is anything from Hughes himself, seems he’s disappeared not only from Hollywood but the public view in general. It’s a shame, Hughes’ movies are great, most of them anyway, which is more than can be said for just about anyone else in the business today. Maybe he ran out of ideas, or maybe he just said everything he needed to say. Either way, we’re lucky to have what he did give us.

You are completely right; though some of his films became a bit old-fashioned (The Breakfast Club), in others he deployed an accurate portrait of the teen world in the nineties. I particularly love Sixteen Candles and Some Kind of Wonderful -not directed, but produced-.
