Global warming sure can make it snow!

Global warming is freezing us to death!

Since we’re all going to die because of global warming, at least according to Al Gore and his followers, freezing to death and being buried in snow seems like the least likely way to go in a warming world, doesn’t it?

Canada is on the verge of having their snowiest winter on record.  But since all weather is now the fault of global warming, this makes perfect sense, right?

Eliot Spitzer, with a friend like that…

The Spitzers One, big, numb family.

It’s bad enough that Eliot Spitzer was a frequenter of hookers, though at $5,500 an hour the correct term is call girl, and the he is a shining hypocrite who betrayed his wife and his office.  But he also betrayed his friend and political contributor, George Fox.

Mr. Fox, a big Democrat donor, released a very generous statement about Spitzer today, more generous than we would’ve been, but such is politics.  Don’t look for the two of them having lunch any time soon.

And today there is talk about impeachment hearings regarding this mess.  Spitzer is probably holding on to his office as a bargaining chip to avoid charges, but there is no doubt that he has to go.

By the way, the picture is from the Governor’s press conference yesterday with his wife. She looks in shock, which could be the only possible explanation for her appearance there.

Hillary near the end…

Not sure who could take whom in a fight.

Given the increased level of absurdity of the current Presidential campaign, guess we shouldn’t be surprised that it seems as if conventional thinking is no longer in vogue. After three excruciating months of watching the Dem Presidential candidates fight to be the most liberal, it’s clear that Barack Obama is the current front runner. Despite what the press contends, Obama is the the virtual Democratic nominee by virtue of his pledged delegate lead and lead in the popular vote. It is mathematically impossible for HRC to overtake Obama’s commanding lead. And yet the story coming out of last week’s TX and OH results is that the race is in a virtual tie. What a joke! The story is not so much that she won, it’s that she didn’t win by enough of a margin to drastically alter the mathematical landscape to make a difference.

It is surprising that more of the Democratic establishment hasn’t turned on HRC in continuing to place her ego above the good of the party.

We know we’re not alone among fellow conservatives in sharing a common foe with Obama supporters: Hillary Rodham Clinton – and we are confident that we will be able to dispatch of Obama in the general (or Hillary, if she manages a miracle). We have come way too close to seeing the end of HRC, and we can’t help but wish for her demise at this critical juncture.

One of the greatest virtues of our country is our celebration of fairness and accountability. In sports, there are winners and there are losers. One is not a worse person, or a better person after a loss. That’s just the way it is – accountability and justice.

As Dick Morris so aptly put it in his latest column, “Hillary, It’s Over!”

“Lies, and the Lying Liars who tell them: The Al Franken Story.”

Yes, I’m a douchebag, but everyone already knew that!Al Franken will tell you he cares about workers, people, the rule of law and that corporations are evil

Al Franken is a liar. Al Franken is getting to pay the state of New York a fine of $25 grand for failing to carry insurance for his staff. Whoops. Hopefully Senator Coleman will ask Al Franken how he truly feels about universal health insurance if he will not even cover his own staff.

The one thing that Al Franken has going for him in this case is that he does not stand alone. Franken’s rival for the Senate nomination also failed to insure his workers on the campaign.

And to think, Democrats say they care.

One can only hope Al Franken updates on of his earlier books, “The Truth”, to include this little misadventure.

Hillary Clinton under the media’s microscope…Will Barack Obama ever be?

Will nothing stick to him because no one is looking?

ABC News has a story today entitled “The Clinton Tax Returns: What’s the Hold Up?”  True, they’ve been ducking and dodging the issue for some time, possibly because the $5 Senator Clinton loaned to her campaign came from her husband’s dealings with foreign nations and that wouldn’t look too good for her, so taking the delay hit is less troubling than the truth (the Clintons don’t do much without calculating the politics of the move).  But where is the ABC story about Barack Obama and Tony Rezko?

Until there is something found in the Clinton tax returns, there’s only speculation.  The same goes for the Obama-Rezko connection.  But one of those stories is getting ink and the other is getting ignored

The Return of the Tax and Spenders…

Remember when that used to be yours?Like moths to a flame, democrats simply cannot help themselves. It is so entwined in their nature, one almost sympathizes for their delirious nature. Almost.

Handed the vestiges of power, democrats are putting on their green tights, picking up their bows and arrows, and going to the halls of Congress to play Robin Hood. The only people they kid are themselves. Democrats should not be allowed to do anything without adult supervision; every time they do anything, someone is bound to get hurt.

Who are they hurting this time? Everyone in America. What can they possibly do to hurt everyone in America at the same time? Pass the new budget. The new budget shows how fiscally irresponsible and un-serious the democrats are about fixing any problem anywhere in America. Democrats whale and whine about how Americans are not investing, not saving, and fighting to stay in their homes. What’s the solution? Raise taxes.

Democrats will tell you that they are simply letting the Bush tax cuts expire. Don’t let them pull this one over you. They’ll tell you these tax cuts only affect the rich. Funny thing, the 2001 tax cuts dropped the lowest tax bracket from 15% to 10%.  Why then, democrats, do you favor raising the lowest income tax bracket 5 percentage points, and the next tax bracket by 3% when these are the brackets most likely to affect poor people? Why do democrats insist on taxing the poor they fight so hard to protect?  Sure, they say they don’t, that they like those tax cuts, but Bill Clinton promised a “middle class tax cut” then, once in office, simply couldn’t find the money to do it.

Democrats erroneously believe that eliminating tax cuts will raise federal revenue. History shows exactly the opposite, thanks to the charts kept by the Cato Institute.  If one looks after the year 2003, (hint, there was a another, better version of the tax cut in 2003) there is an amazing trend that followed: the federal government started bringing in more money each year. Coincidence? Democrats must think so. For those embedded in reality, they know otherwise. More money to invest increases new opportunities, jobs, which all lead back to more money to be taxed later.

This new budget, as the National Review highlights, is a joke. It’s worse than a joke. It is cruel to the American tax payer. There is no effort to reform any entitlement spending, which only the not-yet-born fail (and apparently democrats) to see as a huge financial crisis. There is no effort to address any solution for earmarks, a practice Nancy Pelosi promised to reign in upon the democrats gaining power in the 2006 elections.  She said she would get rid of all of them, and use the money to reduce the federal deficit and not create new spending; well, as Speaker of the House, she has the power. Conversely, the House budget creates $22 billion dollars in NEW spending.

The democrats have broken about every campaign promise they ran on, and now seek to sink America’s economic ship taking us all down with them. Here’s to hoping Bush vetoes this budget all the way to his last day in office.

Pictures from the March First Friday with special guest Jonah Goldberg.

Thank you to everyone that come out to First Friday last week, the turnout just keeps getting bigger with more and more new faces.  Special thanks to Jonah Goldberg for coming and hanging out as long as he did, hope you got a chance to talk with him.

Here is a sampling of the pictures from First Friday. You can see a larger version of each of these by clicking on them and can see all the pics from Friday by going to our Flickr page here.

Also, we do have a Facebook group but there are only a few members because we don’t do much with it, frankly. But we do post some pictures from First Friday there a few days before we post all of them, and you can tag people, so there is a small benefit to joining. If you are so inclined you can join the group here. Considering some of the odd groups on Facebook people join, joining our group isn’t all that strange.
