The Charlie Sheen of New York Politics, Governor Eliot Spitzer, has come out with the following statement about his little hooker problem: (the statement came from here)
“Good afternoon.
“For the past nine years, eight years as attorney general, and one as governor, I have tried to uphold a vision of progressive politics that would rebuild New York and create opportunity for all. We sought to bring real change to New York and that will continue.
“Today I want to briefly address a private matter. I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family and violates my, or any, sense of right and wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, whom I promised better.
“I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals. It is about ideas, the public good, and doing what is best for the state of New York. But I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family.
“I will not be taking questions. Thank you very much. I will report back to you in short order. Thank you very much.”
You can see the video of the press conference here.
What a complete jackass! You broke the law, Governor! You know, the law you swore an oath to uphold! Resign!
There is no amount of explanation that will ever explain what goes through the mind of a political wife who stands beside her husband, in front of the world, at events like this. The only thing that comes close is that they are all about the politics, too.
What a disgrace to this nation, his state and his family. Eliot Spitzer should resign or be removed from office.
Liberals who hate Halliburton and Blackwater frequently attack the two companies for their “no-bid contracts”. In a pure, amazing, terrific coincidence, Halliburton and Blackwater happened to have been headed, or are run by Republican leaning white men. Nancy Pelosi, and Harry “I live in the Ritz Carlton” Reid shrieked about the Republican culture of corruption on the Senate floor time and time again. The Republican Party has chosen John McCain as it’s nominee for the 2008 presidential election. Yet to be formally nominated, it appears that the nomination will be his later this year. So what is one thing John McCain has done?
