It’s sounds like the start of a joke, and it is, but this really happened.
A man walks into a bank with a million dollar bill and wants to open an account…
Alexander D. Smith is the man, and forgery is the charge.
Seems Alex walk into a bank in South Carolina and wanted to open an account – pretty typical – but he wanted his initial deposit to be the million dollar bill he had in his pocket.
Alex is 31, how he has managed to live to that age being so stupid is still unknown. What is know is he’s now charged with two counts of forgery and one count of disorderly conduct.
The second count of forgery comes from the police discovering Alex used a stolen check to buy cigarettes prior to his million dollar stupidity. Seems he would’ve gotten away with that crime if he’d just stopped there.
The disorderly conduct charge is because this idiot actually argued with the bank teller when refused to accept the million dollar bill. The fact that he would argue over this and not just realize he was the only human dumb enough to think this could work and get out of there, leads us to believe he may well be the first person in recorded history to register a negative number on an IQ test.
Look for the name Alexander D. Smith to show up on a future Darwin Awards list.
